The metaverse gets its first homeless man, porn stars try to bring death to plastic and an ad that really sucks (but in a good way) - April was quite a month for purpose-powered ad campaigns.

But which were the standout ads from last month? Well, as part of a monthly round-up of the next brand purpose campaigns of the month, here are our five picks.

But which were the standout ads from last month? Well, as part of a monthly round-up of the best brand purpose campaigns of the month, here are our five picks.

Enjoy!

5. Wherefrom

Campaign: 'Stop the Wash'

I'm sure we've all rolled our eyes at some of the claims brands make around their green credentials. Well, sustainability review platform wherefrom.org has had enough - and has even made a song about it, calling on more action and less talk.

The Earth Day campaign even has the lyrics on the screen below so you can sing along. One, two, three - "Greeeeeeeeeeen-washing".

4. Youtube

Campaign: Non-Fungible Planet

The term "non-fungible" - which basically means something that can't be replaced or is unique - is one that has been used a lot lately, thanks to the rise in popularity of NFTs.

But as video sharing platform YouTube highlights in its Earth Day campaign this year, the term should not be limited to just viral videos and pieces of digital art.

After all, you can't get more non-fungible than our own planet, which is under serious threat every day from the impact of climate change. There's no Earth 2 - so let's do our best to not harm it.

So YouTube worked with 15 content creators around the globe to show just how incredible Earth is. The result is a beautiful piece of film-making that is well worth a watch.

3. Ecologi

Campaign: The Power Of Possible

Here at Good-Loop, we talk a lot about how advertisers can reduce the amount of CO2 their ads generate. But what about an ad that actively decarbonises the air around it? Well, that's exactly what Ecologi managed with its eye-catching and carbon-draining billboard.

The campaign - titled "The Power of Possible" and designed by creative agency Enviral - was placed in Shoreditch, London, and will suck four tonnes of CO2 from the air around it. It reads: "A climate ad that sucks as much as this one? Possible."

The campaign also includes a TV ad starring Dragon's Den star Steven Bartlett, which was launched ahead of Earth Day.

2. Entourage

Campaign: Will

Meet Will. He's the leading figure in Entourage's new campaign and also the first person in the metaverse to be experiencing homelessness.

The ad, created by TBWA\Paris, shows that while many are escaping to the metaverse, there are still a number of real-world issues we cannot avoid.

1. Liquid Death

Campaign: Don't F*** With The Planet

Liquid Death is at it again. Not happy drawing blood from Tony Hawk or getting witch doctors to hex its own water as part of its mission is to 'bring death to plastic bottles', for its latest ad campaign the controversial drinks brand has enlisted the help of porn star Cherie DeVille.

As the ad's description says: "If you won't listen to scientists about the myth of plastic recycling, maybe you'll listen to adult internet star Cherie DeVille. Because if you've ever seen Cherie's work, you know she's a very passionate person. And one thing she's really passionate about is not polluting our planet with single-use plastics."

Despite all the innuendos and its sweary title, the 60-second ad is surprisingly safe for work.
