My clickbaity headline lost a bit of steam at the end there, but I do LOVE a good podcast and there are some really very brilliant ones coming out of adland, so I wanted to share some of my favourites. Not all of them are industry-specific, but they do all inspire me, give me new ideas and make me better at my job. I hope you find it helpful.

1. Change Makers

This show is produced by the PR firm Seven Hills and hosted by their founder, Michael Hayman. He meets with incredible leaders, both from within our industry and beyond, to learn from them and hear their stories.

The thing I love about this show, aside from the impressive guest lineup, is how well Michael (using his many years of prepping his clients I suspect) manages to push past any polished 'PR-able' messaging, through to much more honest, open and deep conversations which are often really quite touching.

2. The AdPod

This show is created and hosted by Wayne Blodwell, Founder of The Programmatic Advisory. Wayne is one of the most informed, connected and well-liked people on the adtech scene and he's opened up his little back book to have some cracking conversations on this show.

Wayne and his guests have all been in the programmatic game for years so I love listening to their observations on the ebbs and flows of the market. Their expertise also means the show can delve a little deeper on key topics, whilst making complex but important issues within the industry easier to understand.

(If AdTech is your vibe, The MadTech Podcast is also well worth a listen. ExchangeWire journalists give a weekly drill-down of the latest madtech headlines and trends)

3. Stay Engaged, from IAB UK

James and his big orange microphone must have visited everyone whos anyone in the UK advertising industry at this point, virtually of course.

James Chandler is the CMO of IAB UK and in each episode, he chats to representatives from brands, agencies, publishers and platforms on how they are adapting to unparalleled disruption in our rapidly changing industry. James certainly has a voice for radio (which is no comment on his face, I should add) and his inquisitive, friendly approach makes me feel like we're all sat around the kitchen table having a cuppa tea and putting the world to rights.

4. The Good, The Bad And The Advertising

Come on, obviously, I was going to mention my own. I'm not a saint.

Dino and I created this show to explore how the power, creativity and influence of the advertising industry can be harnessed to help solve some of the biggest problems facing society today. It's so much fun to create and I'm genuinely really proud of it.

In each episode, we invite a special guest to join us as we craft a brief and then start to spitball crazy ideas to make advertising a force for good. We've chatted about doubling the tax rate with Ogilvy's Rory Sutherland, we've shared childhood library stories with Wavemaker's Sarah Salter and we've planned a social media campaign to get more dogs into bike baskets, with Delou King.

5. Who's Next with Zara Bryson

Zara and I crossed paths when we were both awarded the WACL Future Leader scholarship, and I was honoured to be invited onto her show. Who's Next is all about meeting, learning from and celebrating inspiring and successful women. Meanwhile, you also get to hear from Zara who is herself an advertising powerhouse as a strategic lead at Publicis Media as well as Head of Purpose & Impact at Bloom.

The best part is that Zara's show embodies this idea of lifting each other up because each guest has the opportunity to nominate another fantastic woman in their network, to be next on the show.

6. Pivot

This is a bi-weekly series that definitely helps to inform a lot of my thinking about the future of our industry. Featuring Recode's Kara Swisher and the sweary wisdom of NYU Marketing Professor Scott Galloway, the pair bicker and debate their way through the biggest headlines in tech, business and politics.

Their take on the 'duopoly' is especially enlightening and they often host heated debates on the dangers, opportunities and responsibilities of the small group of huge tech companies that are fuelled by the advertising industry.

7. Advertising Stories

Peter Levitan's Advertising Stories is brutal and hilarious. Our industry really is quite ridiculous sometimes and it's actually quite a relief to hear agency creative directors, account managers, and even big brand clients proudly showing off their industry battle scars.

8. Your Undivided Attention

This is an incredibly smart and thoughtful show, produced by the Center for Humane Technology. Co-hosts Tristan Harris and Aza Raskin explore how our industry's relentless quest for attention has undermined truth, manipulated our democracy and destabilized our real-world communities.

In a particularly poignant episode, they speak with a Facebook whistleblower, Sophie Zhang who had worked as a data scientist single-handedly trying to rein in fake activity on the platform.

9. The VideoWeek Podcast

I LOVE a founder story. I actually listen to a load of 'How I Built This ' / 'My First Million' type podcasts which are super inspiring, but slightly abstract for me as I just don't know the first thing about starting a fitness company or building a global burger chain. I do, however, know advertising, and I know there are some extremely interesting, resilient and creative founders in our space. So I was thrilled when VideoWeek's editor-in-chief Vincent Flood started his 'Founder' Series where he hears stories from the people who've built some our most industry-defining companies.

10. Yeah, That's Probably An Ad

This is a brilliant weekly podcast put together by the AdWeek editorial team in which they talk about creativity, marketing, media, technology and "all the amazing things that are probably just ads for something else". They know all the hot goss circling around our industry and they also deep dive into some of the broader, more sensitive issues like discrimination, sexism and harassment. Well worth a listen.

So there it is, my mega list. I hope I have made your next dog walk, drive, bath or bout of insomnia slightly more enjoyable.

If you know of a brilliant show that I have missed, please do let me know - I'm always keen to find new ones!! Perhaps join in the discussion on my LinkedIn post!
